Government must conduct its business just like everyone else, that is, within the parameters of a balanced budget. Take a good look at the Budget Resolution that just passed
in the Senate recently and what do you see? Bush and the GOP-controlled Congress have virtually guaranteed that our federal government will rack up hundreds of billions of dollars in deficits for years
and years to come!
Bottom line: Much of what I see from Bush and his GOP allies
in Congress just doesn't make sense. For example, how can our
police departments and fire departments meet their new responsibilities
after 9/11 when they're being short-changed by billions of dollars?
How can Bush and the GOP claim that "No Child Is Left Behind"
when they shaved more than $9 billion from education?
How can Bush and his allies claim that deficits are needed when
thousands of people living in Southwest Florida - and millions
who live and work all across America - cannot afford health insurance?
Here's the outrage: The Bush/GOP Budget raises billions and billions
of your tax dollars for "pork." Pet projects that favor
Bush's ultra-wealthy friends will suck away many of the tax dollars
that should rightfully be going into much higher District priorities
during these difficult times, such as for our Veterans, for improving
our schools and for maintaining important health and community
services.
The Bush/GOP Budget is a bloated insult, especially to the hard-working
people in the 14th district.
It's all about priorities. When I am elected to Congress, I'll
go though the federal budget, in clinical detail, to make sure
that your federal tax dollars are being used wisely.
