Nothing is more important in my campaign for Congress
than job creation – and by that, I’m talking about
meaningful employment that will benefit all of us who work in
the 14th District. More...
Public education has always been the bedrock of
our free society.
But because of George Bush and the Republicans
who control Congress, our public education system now finds itself
in great jeopardy. More...
My campaign for the House of Representatives is
all about the advancement of equal opportunity and the elimination
of discrimination on the basis of race, gender, ethnic background
or any other criterion that deprives people of opportunities to
live and work.

More than ever, people with disabilities can enjoy
fuller, more productive lives if they receive the right opportunity
and support – that is, if the GOP in Congress stops attacking
programs for the disabled with budget cuts. More...
Our Second Amendment states, “A well regulated
Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the
right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”
The literal meaning and the intent of this Amendment
are clear and unambiguous.
Yet today, we have more than 22,000 laws and regulations
on the books that get in the way of our Constitutional right as
citizens to keep and bear arms.

The pharmaceutical industry spent $27 million lobbying
Congress in the first half of 2003 in its successful effort to
block the federal government from negotiating directly with manufacturers
to keep the price of prescription drugs down. The GOP-led Congress
enacted the ban even though the federal government already negotiates
lower prices for medicines for veterans and military retirees...

Bush sent our Armed Forces to war in Iraq on a
false pretext based on faulty intelligence.
In the paradox of our troops scoring a stunning
and quick victory over Saddam, we are now left with the task of
nation-building that could take years to accomplish. And when
I factor in how Bush Foreign Policy has alienated some of our
key allies, we in the U.S. may have to get the job done by ourselves.

I oppose it.
The amendment would marginalize many people
who choose to live in relationships of their choice. First, the
elevation into federal law of the Bush/GOP Right Wing definition
of marital status along religious guidelines would bring us a
step closer to a theocracy, a situation specifically addressed
in the 1st Amendment. More...
I oppose it.
This is as an intrusion by government into a decision
that is best made by a woman in consultation with her doctor.

This is a classic example of how the Bush/GOP gas
bags listen only to the echo of their own BS. We now see clearly
that the Bush/GOP Tax Cuts are front-loaded in favor of the wealthiest.

The measures now before Congress don’t address
the primary issues.
They are crafted by special interests to further
polarize the nation without taking on the real issue facing Americans;
that is, maintaining a process for fair and just compensation
for injuries caused by malpractice or by product defect.

As your Congressman, I’ll pay attention to
what I hear from Noncoms in uniform – not the brass hats
in the Pentagon.
Top military officers are out of touch with our
young men and women in the field. The Pentagon is fighting the
War on Terror with a Cold War mentality – that is, sinking
too much of the Federal Budget into high tech gadgetry when it
should be listening to the noncoms regarding what we really need
to win the War on Terror. More...
The Patriot Act was assembled in the aftermath
of 9/11 in an atmosphere that polluted the distinction between
our national security and our fundamental liberty. Like most Americans,
national security was paramount on my mind in those very troubling
days. Today, however, I am deeply concerned that the Act went
too far in its expanding the government's power on matters of
domestic surveillance. More...
As Americans, we have to do a much better
job of providing a wide range of benefits and services for the
men and women who have risked their lives in defense of our nation
and our freedom. More...
I will strongly oppose any attempts by Republicans
to ruin Social Security.
Not Cuts.
No Privatization.
No Means Testing.
No Benefit Reductions.

Since April of this year, I have tried to bring
civility and thoughtfulness to the debate regarding our legal
rights on matters involving personal injury through professional
malpractice or through product liability.
