ROBERT M. NEELD, Democrat
Candidate for U.S. Congress
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CAPE CORAL, APRIL 18 – Robert M. Neeld, Democratic
Party candidate for the US House of Representatives from the 14th
District which includes Lee, Collier and Charlotte Counties, has
issued the following statement today regarding George W. Bush’s
scheduled campaign stop in Collier County later in the week.
“Someone in the GOP camp must have given Bush a heads-up
about his slipping poll numbers in Southwest Florida. This erosion
of support for Bush in Naples, an area considered safer than safe
in terms of find-raising and GOP voter turnout, must be a painful
experience for him.”
“To cover up this erosion of his base vote, Bush and his
handlers schedule a trip to Naples built around a photo op touting
environmental awareness and civic volunteerism. Then, he’ll
go ahead and shake down even more folks at a fundraiser.
“He’s losing support on Iraq and the budget deficit
in the Naples area and he knows it.”
“The fact is, the good people of Naples and throughout
the entire 14th Congressional District are becoming increasingly
disillusioned with Bush over his Blank Check, go-it-alone policy
on Iraq, especially in terms of military manpower and escalating
casualties. Then, there’s the matter of its drain on our
national treasury caused by Bush’s lack of leadership and
thoughtless planning.”
