ROBERT M. NEELD, Democrat
Candidate for U.S. Congress
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CAPE CORAL, FEB. 10 – Robert M. Neeld announced
today that he has entered the race to win the 14th Congressional
District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democrat.
Mr. Neeld will run for election on a Ten-Point
Platform that will stress the need for political change, the need
to create economic opportunity for all people who live in the
14th Congressional District, and which stresses the need for full
accountability upon the Administration’s part in its dealings
with members of Congress.
Mr. Neeld’s Ten Point Platform is as follows:
1. I’ll work hard to get more federal tax
dollars flowing into our District, especially for our schools.
Our teachers and students must have the best-available educational
resources and opportunities.
2. Our VA services in the 14th District are atrocious
and this situation has to be changed. There is absolutely no reason
why our veterans have to wait for months on end to see a doctor,
or to get vital medical services.
3. I’ll get tough with the Army Corps of
Engineers, an agency that nearly ruined the construction industry
in Lee County. The poisoning of our watersheds due to inaction
by the Army Corps also has to be stopped.
4. I’ll fight to get quality medical coverage
for all of our citizens. I’ll work especially hard to make
sure that quality medical care is available to those who have
no insurance or to those have used up their deductibles. No one
in the United States who requires medical help or prescription
drugs should be turned away at the doors of medicine or a pharmacy
due to the lack of financial resources.
5. I will introduce legislation to eliminate mandatory
federal sentencing guidelines. Sentencing should rightfully be
left to the discretion of the presiding judge – and not
be imposed using some “matrix” in the hands of powerful
federal prosecutors.
6. I will take a leadership role and work closely
with the State to find a way that will speed up public acquisition
of the Babcock Ranch, along with other important environmental
tracts of land.
7. I pledge to block any and all Big Oil initiatives
that will pave the way for oil or natural gas drilling and exploration
in the Gulf or the Everglades.
8. I pledge to diversify my 14th Congressional
District’s Field Staff with the goal of improving all levels
of constituent services. I also pledge to establish great communication
between my office and locally-elected representatives.

9. I will work hard to expand economic development throughout
the 14th District, especially within our urban centers and with
sectors of industry that pay their employees wealth-building,
family-supporting wages.
10. I will insure that Social Security and Medicare
will be adequately funded for the long term and I’ll fight
to maintain these vital benefits for our Senior Citizens.
Mr. Neeld is a native Floridian and life-long resident of Lee
County. He has a strong background in finance and in accounting.
He is the owner of Robert M. Neeld Accounting Services, based
in Cape Coral.
Mr. Neeld also has a proven record and commitment
to public service. He has served on numerous advisory boards and
citizen panels and is a member of the Cape Coral Democrat Club.
He is a 20-year member and presently serves as
vice president of The Kiwanis Club of Cape Coral. Through Kiwanis,
he also volunteers as an adviser to the Cape Coral High School
Key Club.
Mr. Neeld is also a 30-year member in good standing
of the South Gulf Coast Football Officials Association, an organization
whose members officiate at all high school football games played
in Lee and Hendry Counties.
